Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, paid glowing tributes to ASI Muhammad Nawaz, who embraced martyrdom in Sheikhupura. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that ASI Muhammad Nawaz sacrificed his life in the line of duty, department will never forget his supreme sacrifice and best welfare of the martyr’s family will be taken care of to the fullest extent possible. Shaheed ASI Muhammad Nawaz was serving in Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP). On Monday night while on duty, ASI Mohammad Nawaz stopped the suspicious persons riding a motorcycle in Qila Sattar Shah area, motorcycle-riding accused opened fire instead of stopping, ASI Muhammad Nawaz was martyred by fire on his chest. One of the accused was killed in retaliatory firing by the police, his accomplice managed to escape. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed the formation of a special team to apprehend the fugitive suspect as soon as possible and bring him to justice. IG Punjab said that the supervisory officers should keep in close contact with the family members of the martyred ASI and spare no effort to solve their problems in a timely manner.
The funeral prayer of Punjab Police’s Shaheed ASI Muhammad Nawaz was held at Police Lines Sheikhupura, it was attended by Additional IGP Punjab Highway Patrol Abdul Kareem, DIG Dr. Muhammad Athar Waheed, RPO Sheikhupura Region Athar Ismail, Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura, and DPO Sheikhupura Bilal Zafar Sheikh. A large number of political and social figures, members of civil society, journalists, lawyers, police officers, and personnel were present at the funeral. A smart contingent of the police presented a salute to the body of Shaheed ASI Muhammad Nawaz. Additional IGP Punjab Highway Patrol, DIG PHP, RPO Sheikhupura Region, and DPO Sheikhupura presented salutes and laid wreaths on the martyr’s body. The martyr was laid to rest in his ancestral area of Kot Abdul Malik. 40-year-old martyr ASI Muhammad Nawaz is survived by his wife and two sons. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the Punjab Police is a custodian of more than 1600 martyrs like ASI Muhammad Nawaz and over brave 1700 Ghazis, priority measures are ongoing for the welfare of all martyrs’ families and Ghazis.
