KARACHI: The Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Sindh, Mir Tariq Ali Talpur, held a pivotal meeting Thursday with the CEO of Hunar Foundation, Mr. Ghufran Khan, and his team to explore joint welfare projects aimed at benefiting children, senior citizens, and the transgender community across Sindh.The meeting was also attended by prominent officials from the Social Welfare Department, including Director General Mr. Athar Hussain, Director General of the Sindh Child Protection Authority Mr. Moazzam Ali Mangi, Staff Officer Saima Malik, and other senior members of the department.During the discussion, Hunar Foundation presented several proposals focused on providing vocational and technical training to children, particularly orphans and those from underprivileged backgrounds. These initiatives are designed to equip youth with essential skills, empowering them to become self-reliant and contributing members of society.Minister Mir Tariq Ali Talpur commended Hunar Foundation’s efforts and emphasized the critical importance of such collaborations. He remarked, “The Social Welfare Department is dedicated to improving the lives of senior citizens, transgenders, and orphans in Sindh. It is our responsibility to ensure that these vulnerable groups receive the necessary support and opportunities to lead dignified lives.”The Minister stressed the importance of youth empowerment, especially in marginalized areas, by providing them with skills that can lead to lawful and productive livelihoods. He stated, “We must unite to strengthen the transgender community and other marginalized groups, ensuring they are not left behind in the province’s development. By providing appropriate training and resources, we can help them build a better future and contribute positively to society.”Both the Social Welfare Department and Hunar Foundation agreed to continue their collaboration and explore further opportunities to expand these initiatives throughout the province. The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to partnering with organizations like Hunar Foundation to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all citizens, especially those in need.
