Lahore:In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Safe Punjab Vision, Punjab Police continues its series of intelligence-based operations across the province, including Lahore, to eradicate heinous crime. Police teams are actively engaged in suppressing dangerous criminals to eliminate serious offences. According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, this year, 5,610 gangs involved in serious criminal activities have been busted. More than 14,000 criminals have been arrested, and stolen properties worth over 5.02 billion rupees have been recovered. This recovered property includes 1,611 vehicles, 24,419 motorcycles, 2,223 tolas of gold, 10,418 mobile phones, and 5,251 livestock, all of which have been returned to their owners. Additionally, cash amounting to over 548 million rupees has been recovered from various criminals wanted in different cases. In a crackdown in the provincial capital, the spokesperson said that 3,133 gangs have been dismantled this year, resulting in the arrest of 7,195 accused. From these criminals, stolen properties worth over 205.6 million rupees have been recovered, including 876 vehicles, 13,886 motorcycles, 5,085 mobile phones, 204 tolas of gold, and 124 livestock.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the police teams for their excellent performance in combating dangerous gangs and emphasized the need to accelerate intelligence based operations and crackdowns to eradicate organized crime. He directed that professional criminals involved in robbery, murder, abduction, and other serious offences be brought to justice.
