Lahore:Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), accompanied by DIG Operations Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran, DIG Security Malik Awais, and other senior officers. President of LCCI Abu Zar Shad, Senior Vice President Usman Khalid, Vice President Shahid Nazir, Muhammad Ali Mian, Nasrullah Mughal, Umar Sarfraz, and other officials welcomed IG Punjab and thanked Punjab Police for ensuring a peaceful environment during the recent chamber elections. President of LCCI paid tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs who laid down their lives for peace in Lahore and across the province. He praised Punjab Police’s efforts in ensuring effective security, Safe Cities Authority projects, maintaining law and order, and controlling crime. The officials and executive committee members of LCCI informed IG Punjab about the issues faced by the business community. Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that the LCCI officials and senior leadership of Punjab Police exchanged concrete proposals for ensuring the protection of traders and promoting economic activities.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that his association with LCCI has spanned 26 years, and Punjab Police is committed to providing robust security for business and economic activities across Lahore and the province. He further said that by June 30, 2025, Punjab Police will transition all districts and central tehsils of the province to Safe Cities systems. Dr. Usman Anwar directed the formation of liaison committees at the SP level to address issues such as FIRs for electricity theft against traders by LESCO, encroachments, traffic, parking, and security concerns. He instructed the regular provision of licensing facilities at the Police Khidmat Markaz in LCCI under proper SOPs.
IG Punjab directed DIG Operations Lahore to take action against drug dealers and professional beggar mafias in markets and business centers. He further mentioned that the Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority is being established to eliminate encroachments from markets, business centers, key locations, and highways. IG Punjab emphasized that Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is fully supporting Punjab Police in its transformation as the best civil armed force. Over the past year, Punjab Police has utilized Rs. 31 billion in development projects to improve its infrastructure. Through its resources, Punjab Police has transitioned 737 police stations to special initiative protocols and is spending Rs. 14.6 billion on employee welfare. Daily, Rs. 10 million is spent on the welfare of officers, personnel, and their families. The President of LCCI presented an honorary shield to IG Punjab. He appreciated the formation of committees to resolve issues and strengthen relations between the business community and the police. He expressed gratitude for Punjab Police’s cooperation in crime prevention and ensuring security in Lahore’s markets.
