Punjab extends ‘Honhar Scholarship Scheme’ to other provinces

LAHORE :Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the extension of the ‘Honhar Scholarship Scheme’ to students from other provinces.Chairing a high-level meeting on higher education, CM Maryam Nawaz sanctioned scholarships for second-year, third-year, and fourth-year students in Punjab.Additionally, the number of laptops to be distributed under the provincial government’s initiative has been increased to 110,000.

To qualify for a laptop, students must secure a minimum of 65% marks, a benchmark that applies to students from other provinces. The chief minister also directed the establishment of a dedicated helpline for students benefiting from the Honhar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz stressed the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, stating, “Education and the youth are our nation’s true investment. Every child deserves access to modern learning tools, and it is our responsibility to provide them.”

She reaffirmed that students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be given the same opportunities as those in Punjab.

Emphasizing her commitment to educational reforms, CM Maryam Nawaz assured that financial constraints would not hinder the implementation of any student welfare scheme.
