Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting during which the proposal to start a phase-wise mass transit system consisting of 25 buses in remote districts was reviewed.

The participants of the meeting agreed that a bus service will be launched from each rural tehsil to the district headquarters.

CM Maryam has sought a comprehensive plan for inter-village transport and transportation for rural women. She also directed immediate steps to provide subsidies for female passengers in the mass transit system.

During the discussion, she remarked that a modern transport system was also the right of women living in rural areas.

She expressed that the lack of transportation for rural women is extremely painful. She emphasized that the provision of a modern transport system will boost the confidence of rural women.

She further added that female students and patients will also be able to commute with ease.
