ISLAMABAD:Following the murder of a local PML-N leader in Pandorian, within the jurisdiction of Khanna Police Station, allegedly for raising his voice against drug trafficking, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi has launched an internal “clean-up” operation against police officers suspected of links with drug dealers.Acting on departmental reports indicating alleged connections with drug networks, the IGP has dismissed 13 police personnel, including the former Station House Officer (SHO) of Khanna Police Station.According to police sources, those dismissed include: Sub-Inspector Qasim Zia (former SHO Khanna), Sub-Inspector Talat Mehmood (Golra Police Station), ASI Muhammad Ajmal, Waqas Idrees (Moharrar, Noon Police Station), Qazi Azhar (Driver, Secretariat Police Station), Muhammad Ishaq (Head Constable, Secretariat Police Station), Zahid Khan (Constable, Bhara Kahu Police Station), Imran (Constable, Tarnol Police Station, currently at Police Lines), Ahsan Farooq (Constable, Karachi Company Police Station), Sajid (Driver Constable, Sangjani Police Station), Naveed Butter (Moharrar, Lohi Bher Police Station), Nadeem and Syed Nazim Abbas (Constables, Khanna Police Station).Police sources stated that the officers were removed from service for allegedly supporting and maintaining contact with drug networks operating in the area.After the murder of PML-N leader Ishtiaq Abbasi, IGP Rizvi had ordered a special internal inquiry and directed district police officers to launch a comprehensive crackdown on drug dealers.
