ISLAMABAD:An expert-level delegation from the Syrian Arab Republic visited the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters on Thursday, where they were given a detailed overview of the capital’s cutting-edge digital policing systems.Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Headquarters Haroon Joya and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Safe City Muhammad Iqbal Khan welcomed the delegation and led the visit, a police spokesperson told APP.The guests were taken on a guided tour of the Command and Control Center, the Police Operations Hall, and the high-tech surveillance system powered by artificial intelligence and smart analytics. The delegation was also briefed on the newly launched Online Women Police Station — a pioneering initiative that provides 24/7 support, complaint registration, and legal aid for women, children, and other vulnerable groups. FIRs can now be registered remotely, reducing the need for in-person visits, the spokesperson added.Officials explained how the Safe City infrastructure contributes to crime prevention, traffic regulation, and emergency response, ensuring enhanced public safety in the federal capital. As a gesture of appreciation, the head of the Syrian delegation presented a commemorative shield to ICT Police officials, praising their efforts in embracing digital innovation to improve policing and community protection. The delegation expressed admiration for Islamabad Police’s integration of modern technology and described it as a model worth replicating in other countries.
