ISLAMABAD:The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday received special water rescue kits from the Chinese Blue Sky Rescue Foundation in a ceremony held at the CDA Headquarters.
The handover took place during a meeting between CDA Member Administration Talat Mahmood and a delegation from the Foundation, in line with directions issued by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The Director General of Islamabad Emergency Services and other relevant officials were also in attendance.According to CDA officials, the rescue kits will enhance the authority’s ability to respond to water-related emergencies and strengthen Islamabad’s overall emergency preparedness.Mahmood thanked the Foundation for its continued cooperation, saying Pakistan values the support extended by China in the field of public safety and disaster response. He described the donation as a “significant addition” to the capital’s emergency services capacity. He added that the CDA was taking all possible measures to ensure public safety and that modern equipment would improve the effectiveness of rescue teams dealing with water emergencies.Representatives of the Chinese Blue Sky Rescue Foundation said they would continue collaborating with Pakistani authorities under the shared objective of saving lives. They announced that specialized training sessions on using the new equipment would also be arranged for CDA staff. The Foundation has previously partnered with the CDA, having provided specialized training in July on fast-flowing water rescues and boat operations, along with a set of modern water rescue tools.Officials said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed soon to formalize future cooperation, including further equipment support and training programmes. The Chinese Blue Sky Rescue Foundation currently operates in more than 20 countries.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation in emergency response and disaster management.
