ISLAMABAD:Security across the federal capital was tightened on Friday as authorities deployed more than 3,500 police personnel and set up special pickets to ensure the peaceful observance of Youm-ul-Quds.

Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with Inspector General of Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, visited various security checkpoints in the city to review arrangements made for the day.

During the visit, Randhawa directed police officers and personnel deployed at different locations to perform their duties with diligence and ensure the smooth conduct of processions.Officials said strict security arrangements had been put in place around mosques and imambargahs across the city, including the Faisal Mosque, while entry and exit points to the capital were being closely monitored.IG Rizvi said more than 3,500 officers and personnel had been deployed to maintain law and order, adding that special pickets had also been established at various locations in the capital.He said well-equipped contingents of Islamabad Police were conducting effective patrolling across the city to strengthen security.“The protection of the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of Islamabad Police,” Rizvi said.Randhawa said that, in line with the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, comprehensive measures were being taken to further strengthen security arrangements across Islamabad.He added that all available resources were being utilised to ensure the safety of citizens in the federal capital.
