ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police conducted large-scale joint grand combing operations across multiple areas of the federal capital, detaining 56 suspects including 20 Afghan nationals, along with two vehicles and 47 motorcycles during search activities.An official told dateline on Friday that the operations were carried out in the jurisdictions of Kirpa, Sumbal, Secretariat, Khanna, Industrial Area, Bani Gala and Tarnol police stations.He said the operations were conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza and zonal SPs.The official said lady police officials also participated in the operations to ensure effective checking.During the operations, a total of 712 individuals and 1,108 households were checked.He said 182 shops and 32 hotels were also inspected during the search.The official said 381 motorcycles and 141 vehicles were examined during the drive. He said suspects, vehicles and motorcycles were shifted to relevant police stations for further verification.
The official said individuals involved in illegal weapons possession were also arrested and four pistols of different calibers along with ammunition were recovered.He said special checking points had been established at entry and exit routes of the city to ensure effective monitoring. All patrolling units and special squads were actively performing duties across the city, he added.Senior officers remained present in the field, reviewing security arrangements and ensuring implementation of measures.The official urged citizens to cooperate with police during checking and report any suspicious activity immediately.
