ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Saturday conducted large-scale joint grand combing operations across the federal capital, detaining 85 suspicious individuals and shifting 47 motorcycles for further verification during intensified security measures.An official told dateline on Saturday that the operations were carried out in the jurisdictions of Shalimar, Khanna, Secretariat, Korral, Golra, Bhara Kahu, Noon, Lohi Bher and Ramna police stations.He said the operations were conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza and zonal SPs.The official said lady police officials also participated in the operations to ensure effective checking.During the operations, a total of 1,164 individuals and 679 households were checked.He said 113 shops and 63 hotels were also inspected during the search.The official said 426 motorcycles and 164 vehicles were examined during the drive.
He said suspects and motorcycles were shifted to relevant police stations for further verification.
The official said a suspect involved in illegal possession of weapons was also arrested and one pistol along with ammunition was recovered.He said drug peddlers were also apprehended and ice (crystal meth) was recovered from their possession.The official said special checking points had been established at entry and exit routes of the city to ensure effective monitoring.All patrolling units and special squads were actively performing duties across the city, he added.Senior officers remained present in the field, reviewing security arrangements and ensuring implementation of measures.The official urged citizens to cooperate with police during checking and report any suspicious activity immediately.
