ISLAMABAD:The district administration of Islamabad on Tuesday detained 37 professional beggars in the last 24 hours as part of an ongoing daily campaign, urging residents to report such activity through a round-the-clock control room number.According to an official statement, the district administration has continued its action against begging across different areas of the federal capital. In the past 24 hours, a total of 37 individuals identified as professional beggars were taken into custody and shifted to lock-ups.Officials said the campaign is being carried out on a daily basis to address the issue in public spaces. Teams are conducting operations in markets, traffic signals, and other busy locations where such activity is frequently reported.The administration has called on citizens to support these efforts. Residents have been asked not to encourage begging and to help authorities by identifying and reporting individuals involved in it. The helpline is available 24/7 and is meant to receive information related to begging and other civic issues.Authorities said that information shared by the public will help improve response and assist teams in taking timely action.
