The Rawalpindi health department has devised an effective micro plan devised to control the spread of dengue in 2022, keeping in view the previous year’s statistics.

Under the plan, the Rawalpindi district has been divided into four zones, six sectors, and 36 clusters. Each zone, sector, and the cluster has been given under a separate in-charge. Each cluster will have anti-dengue teams in proportion to the population.

The anti-dengue campaign will be launched across Punjab, including the Rawalpindi district, from February 15, and the dengue season will be declared across Punjab from April 1 to November 30.

Areas, where most dengue cases surfaced in the last 10 years, have been declared hotspots and the number of teams had also been increased.

The dengue larvae eradication operation will be started in February from these hotspot areas. Anti-dengue sprays, medicines, and kits will also reach Rawalpindi from Lahore by February 15. Three weekly anti-dengue meetings will begin in April.

Third-party checking teams have also been formed for checking the performance of dengue larvae eradication teams.

Workers will also be recruited in February on a temporary basis for carrying out dengue drives.
