KARACHI: The prices of cooking oil, ghee and Palm oil in the international market Tuesday dropped significantly but the top tier brands did not let the impact pass down to the public.
The price of a ton of palm oil in the international market saw a very steep drop of US$800 and now lies in the range of US$980 to US$1000. However, the impact of this massive descent could not reach the local markets of Karachi.
The top-tier A-grade brands reduced their prices only by Rs10 to 50 and the new price sits at Rs570 which was Rs600 earlier.
Similarly, the B-grade brands lowered their prices by Rs100 and their prices came to Rs480 from Rs580, whereas the loose cooking oil and ghee is being sold at Rs450.
The public demands that steps should be taken for the decrease in oil and ghee prices so that the purchase of daily groceries is made easy.
