Palestinian Flag Day celebrated at Embassy of State of Palestine in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (NNI): Palestinian Flag Day was celebrated at the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Islamabad on Friday. Palestinian national anthem was also played on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Jawad Rabi’i said the flag of Palestine is baptized with the blood of thousands of martyrs and wounded and is a symbol of the Palestinian struggle for goodness and independence.
He valued Pakistan’s historical position in support of the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom, independence and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
It is pertinent to mention that the State of Palestine began celebrating this day after President Mahmoud Abbas raised the flag of the State of Palestine at the United Nations on September 30, 2015, following the approval of the General Assembly on the 11th of the same month to raise the flag at the United Nations building and headquarters in New York.
