PM holds meeting to review relief operations in flood-struck areas

LAHORE, Oct 01 (NNI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Saturday presided over a meeting of higher officials to review the relief operations for victims in the flood affected areas.
The Prime Minister presided over an important meeting to review the rehabilitation works in the flood affected areas and gave special instructions to ensure uninterrupted supply of relief goods and food items to the flood victims.
He directed all the provincial governments to provide special support for the supply of relief items and other essential items so that the problems and hindrances can be taken care of effectively and efficiently. He also took notice of the increase in the prices of food items in the wake of floods and directed to solve the problems faced in determining the prices of food items as soon as possible.
On special instructions of Shehbaz Sharif, the provision of relief operations and the security of the people involved in the relief operations was directed to be made effective with the cooperation of the provincial governments. Moreover, special measures were directed to be taken for prevention of any complaints of cut or delay in the delivery of relief goods and relief funds among the flood victims.
He also directed the higher authorities to complete the estimation work of the damages and havoc caused by the floods immediately.
Officials of the National Flood Response Coordination Center gave a detailed briefing on the rehabilitation works going on in the flood affected areas across the country.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar along with the National Flood Response and Coordination Center Coordinator Major Zafar Iqbal, NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz, Chief Secretaries of Provincial Governments and DGP DMA and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
