ISLAMABAD: Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday to tour the flood-hit areas, officials said.
Malala and her parents arrived in Karachi amid tight security. She will visit affected areas in interior Sindh. She last visited Pakistan four years ago. The Malala Fund said in a statement the visit is aimed at inviting international attention on the impact of floods in Pakistan and reinforce the need for critical humanitarian aid. Officials will brief her about the devastation caused by heavy rains and floods which killed and injured thousands while millions were displaced. Last month the Malala Fund issued an emergency relief grant to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to support relief efforts and protect the well-being of girls and young women.-NNI
