KARACHI, Aug 02 (NNI): Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Iqbal Hashmi has said that in our country the law only catches the poor, while letting the elite go scot-free.
Commenting on the verdict of the Election Commission of Pakistan on PTI foreign funding case, he said that right long years were spent to decide this case and the verdict seemed too soft as compared to the intensity of crime. He said that now the federal government on the basis of this verdict would go to court but to no avail.
He said that as per the decision the crime is proved but the show-cause seems to tell that the institution and their heads have no courage to take on powerful elements. He said it seems that the ECP has humbly asked Imran Khan would he mind if illegally gotten foreign funds are fortified.
He said in a money laundering case such a soft attitude is hardly seen. He said Nawaz Sharif and Mariam Nawaz are also convicted from courts but they roam freely. He said one may say the PTI itself has written this verdict. He said in this country only the poor face law and courts while the rich are not touched by the law.
Hashmi said that in the decision it is told that Imran Khan had received illegal foreign funding, but this fact was already know to even every child of this country. He said this country was not formed for the elite but it is being run to save the interests of the elite. He said reading the verdict in foreign funding case one may feel what are the hurdles in way of release and repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
He said if the foreign funds are immediately forfeited the balance of payments issue may be resolved to some extent.
He said Indian citizens and foreign companies give funds to Pakistani politicians for their vested interests. He said such politicians should be tried for treason, but instead they enjoy full government protocol. He said this is why these politicians are silent over the fall of Kashmir and recent water aggression by India. He said these politicians are bent to make Pakistan a Banana Republic. NNI
