ISLAMABAD: In a swift diplomatic response to a fatal terrorist attack on a security forces’ post in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan has delivered a formidable demarche to the Afghan Interim Government (AIG). The attack, claimed by Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, an affiliate of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), resulted in the tragic loss of twenty-three security personnel.
Foreign Office Spokesperson in a statement said that the Foreign Secretary summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of AIG to convey Pakistan’s strong demarche in the wake of the deadly incident.
Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack, raising concerns about the growing influence of terrorist groups in the region.
The Chargé d’Affaires of AIG was instructed to promptly communicate the following to the Afghan Interim Government:
Conduct a thorough investigation and take decisive action against the perpetrators.
Publicly condemn the terrorist incident at the highest level.
Immediately and verifiably act against all terrorist groups and their leadership, along with their sanctuaries.
Apprehend and hand over the attackers and TTP leadership in Afghanistan to the Government of Pakistan, the statement said adding take necessary measures to prevent the persistent use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan.
The attack highlights the ongoing threat to peace and stability in the region, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts against terrorism.
In a statement, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to combatting terrorism and stressed the importance of collective action to thwart the menace. The nation remains resolute in addressing the persistent challenges posed by terrorist activities.
This development marks a critical juncture in regional diplomacy, with both nations urged to unite in the face of a shared threat to security.
