ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Mr. Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, PSP, PPM, a distinguished officer from the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), has officially assumed the position of Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday. Mr. Jehangir, previously serving as the Additional DG in FIA’s Cybercrime Wing, brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished career in law enforcement to his new role.
With a notable career marked by exemplary service across all four provinces of Pakistan, Mr. Jehangir is widely recognized for his professionalism, honesty, and commitment to upholding the law. His assumption of office at the FIA Headquarters in Islamabad was marked by a solemn homage to the agency’s martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial.
Engaging with ADGs and Directors, Mr. Jehangir expressed his firm determination to enhance the institution’s capabilities and improve service delivery. In his vision statement, he emphasized the core values of honesty, duty, and effective law enforcement. The Director General pledged urgent measures to enhance public service delivery, ensuring the provision of the best services to the people.
Addressing immediate challenges, Mr. Jehangir highlighted the agency’s commitment to combat human trafficking, cybercrimes, money laundering, corruption, and other white-collar crimes in the country. He affirmed stern action against individuals spreading fake, objectionable, and hateful content on social media, in accordance with the law. The Director General announced a joint strategy with national and international organizations to tackle international crimes such as human trafficking, emphasizing public awareness.
Recognizing the critical role of professional training, Mr. Jehangir issued orders to focus on the specialized training of investigation officers and senior officers within the agency. He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against misconduct and stressed the importance of performing professional duties diligently. Any negligence will face stringent legal actions.
This marks a new era under the leadership of Director General Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, as the FIA strengthens its resolve to combat crime, protect citizens, and uphold the rule of law.
