Bureau Report
LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued directives to enhance security measures at courts across the province, emphasizing the need for foolproof arrangements to ensure the smooth functioning of judicial proceedings. The directive comes in response to concerns over frequent court closures due to what he termed as “unnecessary protests.
Addressing the issue during a high-level meeting held at the central police office in Lahore on Wednesday, IG Punjab emphasized the paramount importance of safeguarding the judiciary and preventing any form of disrespect towards judges. He underscored that court closures disrupt the administration of justice and must be avoided at all costs.

Dr. Usman Anwar directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and other concerned officials to conduct a comprehensive security audit and revise existing security plans for courts. He stressed the need for close coordination between law enforcement agencies and court administrations to ensure effective security arrangements.
The directive also includes maintaining heightened vigilance at entry and exit points of courts, continuous monitoring through CCTV cameras, and strict enforcement of weapons prohibition within court premises. Negligent personnel will face disciplinary action, warned the IG.
