ISLAMABAD: In response to widespread speculation regarding the purported visit of a high-level delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Pakistan, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has categorically rubbished the report.
Addressing media queries, Baloch categorically stated that any reports suggesting the presence of an IAEA delegation in Pakistan are unfounded and constitute “fake news.” She clarified that no official representatives from the IAEA are presently in the country, nor are there any scheduled policy discussions with the agency in the foreseeable future.
This statement comes in the wake of swirling rumors regarding the alleged visit of an IAEA delegation to Pakistan, which had garnered considerable attention and speculation within diplomatic circles. Baloch’s remarks serve to dispel these rumors and clarify the official stance of the Pakistani government on the matter.
Furthermore, Baloch reminded reporters of a previous visit by the Director General of the IAEA to Pakistan in February 2023. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had reportedly provided briefings to the media regarding this visit at the time.
The denial underscores Pakistan’s commitment to transparency and adherence to international protocols regarding nuclear matters. Baloch’s statement reiterates the importance of accurate reporting and urges media outlets to exercise caution in disseminating unverified information.
As of now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not provided any additional details regarding the nature of the rumors or the potential repercussions of their circulation. However, the emphatic denial serves as a clear message regarding the veracity of the claims surrounding the alleged IAEA delegation visit to Pakistan.
