ATTOCK: Member district monitoring committee and former provincial Minister Jahangir Khanzada has said that as many as 3,077 farmers of the Hazro would be facilitated under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Agriculture Transformation Programme, He expressed these views while addressing Kisan card distribution ceremony to facilitate the farmers and peasants of Hazro and its adjoining areas. The ceremony was organized by the agriculture department which was attended by a large number of farmers, peasants, and officials of the agriculture department and notables of the area. During the ceremony cards were distributed among 906 farmers and peasants of the area. “For the first time, a farmer package worth 400 billion rupees is being introduced in Punjab,” he said adding that “Through the Kisan Card, farmers will receive agricultural inputs, along with other benefits and facilities”. He was of the view that the Punjab government’s top priorities include the prosperity of every farmer and boosting agricultural production. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government was taking revolutionary measures for the welfare of farmers and the development of the agricultural sector. He added that a significant budget had been allocated by the Punjab government to support these initiatives, with the card being a valuable gift for farmers across the province. On this occasion, he emphasized that the Kisan card is an important initiative of the Punjab government and urged the officials to take steps to ensure the registration of all eligible landowners and the issuance of Kisan cards.He added that under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Agriculture Transformation Programme, exemplary measures were being taken for development and prosperity of farmers in the agricultural sector. He stated that distribution centers have been established in all six tehsils of the district. He informed that 1,423 cards distributed among farmers of tehsil Attock, 906 in tehsil Hazro, 1041 in Hassanabdal, 3,985 in Fatehjang, 2,107 in Pindigheb and 2,635 in Jand while target has set to distribute card among 27,122 farmers of the district. Addressing this occasion, assistant director agriculture Zafar Iqbal has said that Kisan cards would enable farmers to get fertilizers of different kinds, pesticides, and pure registered seed varieties of wheat, cotton, pulses including gram, and oilseeds like sesame, sunflower, and other crops at a highly subsidized price.
