Rooted in the region’s rich storytelling traditions, the workshop explores the role of oral narratives in contemporary theatre for young audiences (TYA). Participants from Southasia—including storytellers, theatre makers, writers, and performers—will engage in creative exchanges, reflecting on pedagogy, performance, and inclusivity in the arts.

The workshop will also feature renowned and experienced artists leading sessions, including playwright and poet Asghar Nadeem Syed, theatre artist and Punjabi language activist Huma Safdar, kathak dancer and educator Bina Jawwad, director and producer Aamir Nawaz, academic and storyteller Dr. Tania Saeed, theatre director Mobeen Ejaz, academic and storyteller Ahmed Bilal, kathak dancer and choreographer Uzma Ali, community theatre expert Aslam Malik, and scholar and writer Qaisar Abbas.

“This workshop serves as a bridge between tradition and innovation, helping artists connect with audiences across diverse cultural landscapes,” said Umair Mushtaq, Interim Director of The Little Art.

Scheduled from February 20–22, the workshop is part of Babel’s global initiative to foster intercultural dialogue through the performing arts, with regional workshops held in six non-European countries.
