Lahore:On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, a daily open court is being held at the Central Police Office. As part of this ongoing initiative, AIG Complaints is listening to citizens’ grievances and addressing them.Sharing the details, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that dozens of citizens are registering their complaints on a daily basis. So far this year, complaints of 2,266 applicants have been addressed. More than 100 FIRs have been registered in response to these complaints. In addition to the registration of FIRs, issues related to poor investigation, change of investigation, and other complaints have also been resolved. Complaints against police officers and personnel, as well as those related to police services, have been addressed. Departmental, in-service, martyrs’, and retired officers’ complaints are also being resolved.Punjab Police spokesperson further said that after a complaint is registered, it is forwarded to the relevant field officer, from SDPO to RPO. The concerned officer is bound to contact the applicant within 24 hours and report back to the IGP Complaint Cell. Citizens can appear in the open court from 9 AM to 5 PM daily to register their complaints. IG Punjab directed that, according to the issued SOPs, timely redressal of applicants’ grievances must be ensured within the given timeline. District officers must ensure the holding of open courts for complainants and strict implementation of the Free Registration of FIR Policy.
