PESHAWAR,:Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed here Monday issued directives to devise a special security plan for Eid-ul-Adha. In light of potential threats from fraudsters and thieves at cattle markets before Eid, the police chief has also instructed special measures and ordered increased security around all major and minor cattle markets in the province. In his statement, IG Police Zulfiqar Hameed said that those who destroy lives through aerial firing are silent killers and deserve no leniency. To prevent aerial firing, not only should the display of weapons be banned, but a special awareness campaign should also be launched with the cooperation of public representatives through community policing. In order to counter any potential threats before Eid prayer gatherings, search and strike operations should be initiated in sensitive areas.Senior police officials should make special security arrangements for all markets and shopping centers, especially those frequented by women. The provincial police chief also directed that in women’s markets, along with uniformed personnel, female police officers should also be deployed. He emphasized that traffic should remain smooth at all times before and during Eid-ul-Adha, and for this purpose, additional personnel should be deployed.IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also instructed senior police officials to mobilize the public against troublemakers and gain their cooperation, as well as to activate Rescue 15 and Rapid Response Units in all districts.
