Lahore:Punjab Police is committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during Muharram, and as part of this effort, a crackdown is underway against individuals promoting objectionable content on social media. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 26 incidents of uploading objectionable and hate-filled content on social media platforms were reported in the last 24 hours. As a result, 20 cases were registered and 24 violators were arrested. Out of these incidents, 17 were reported on Facebook, 3 on WhatsApp, and 6 on other social media platforms. The spokesperson further shared that over the past 4 days, a total of 72 cases have been registered and 83 individuals have been arrested for sharing objectionable content on social media. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that those involved in promoting religious hatred, incitement, and sectarianism on social media do not deserve any leniency. He added that Punjab Police is ensuring strict action against individuals spreading hate and objectionable material online.
