RAWALPINDI:Director General, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza, on Sunday said that housing schemes in green belt areas would be strictly prohibited, reinforcing the RDA’s commitment to protecting green zones and curbing unauthorized development.
Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the city’s environment and maintaining ecological balance, she stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed soon with the Land Information and Management System (LIMS).Kinza said that the partnership with LIMS aims to enhance data integration, planning oversight, and sustainable urban development in Rawalpindi.By leveraging technology-driven solutions, the RDA seeks to foster smart governance practices that support long-term urban sustainability.The MoU with LIMS is expected to facilitate advanced land data management, transparency in planning processes, and better monitoring of land use.It reflects RDA’s proactive approach to responsible urban planning and the implementation of smart governance solutions.The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to responsible urban development and a better quality of life for Rawalpindi’s residents, she added.
