RAWALPINDI:The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has launched an extensive data collection campaign across its Rawalpindi City Circle, covering more than 400,000 consumers.
The initiative aims to streamline ownership verification, billing procedures, installment facilitation, and timely communication regarding load-shedding and maintenance schedules. The campaign is spearheaded by Superintending Engineer Mohsin Ali Memon, with on-ground implementation under the supervision of XEN Shah Nawaz of the Westridge Subdivision.IESCO field teams in the Westridge, Satellite Town, and City Subdivisions are conducting door-to-door visits to collect consumers’ national identity card (CNIC) numbers and mobile phone details. The collected information is being stored in a centralized data bank, enabling the company to send real-time updates and service notifications directly to registered consumers via SMS.XEN Shah Nawaz stated that, in accordance with the directives of Superintending Engineer Mohsin Ali Memon, the door-to-door data collection process is being conducted transparently. The staff is scanning original CNICs and entering consumer data directly into the central system. He explained that once the database is fully updated, instances of fraudulent meter ownership transfers and property encroachments will be eliminated, as ownership changes will require the consent of the verified property owner. He urged citizens to cooperate with IESCO teams and verify official identification cards before providing any information to ensure that no unauthorized individuals misuse the process for illicit purposes. Shah Nawaz further assured that all collected data will remain strictly confidential and will be used solely for service enhancement and consumer facilitation.
The initiative is expected to not only improve billing accuracy and ownership verification but also strengthen real-time communication between IESCO and its consumers paving the way for a more efficient and consumer-friendly electricity management system.Experts view this data collection campaign as a significant step toward digital transparency and improved consumer trust through the use of modern technology.
