Authored by Dr. Zahid Latif, the book launch of “Pakistan’s Search for Peace with Afghanistan” was held at the UK Parliament.The event was hosted by Lord Wajid Khan of Burnley in collaboration with NUST Trust Foundation UK, Forum for International Relations Development, UK and Pakistan High Commission, London.Members of the House of Commons, House of Lords, academia, and other representatives of the civil society attended the event. High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal and officials of Pakistan High Commission UK also participated.Dr. Zahid’s book offers thoughtful and insightful guidance for peaceful coexistence and the future trajectory of Pak – Afghan relations.While speaking about Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and the situation with India, the author asked the parliamentarians to raise their voices for forging peace in the region.Speaking at the forum, High Commissioner highlighted the strained relations between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India, especially the recent conflicts, including Pakistan downing seven Indian planes in May this year, and the conflict with Afghanistan.He also underscored the need for activation of the SAARC forum to promote peace and prosperity in South Asia, which is home to around 1.8 billion people across eight countries.The High Commissioner thanked the British Parliamentarians for their continued support in the efforts for finding a lasting peace in the region.Members of the British Parliament expressed their desire for permanent peace in the region. They committed their continued support for peace dialogue between the Parties.At the conclusion, Dr. Zahid Latif presented copies of his book to the British Parliamentarians and the High Commissioner.
