LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, presided over a video-link meeting to review the province’s overall security, law and order and other key administrative matters.
During the meeting, Dr. Usman directed all field officers to enhance security across Punjab, including Lahore, and to maintain strict vigilance over terrorist and extremist elements. He instructed for swift action against violations of the Loudspeaker Act and individuals spreading religious hatred through social media.The IGP also emphasised expediting the repatriation process of illegal Afghan residents and other foreign nationals residing unlawfully in Punjab. He ordered a zero-tolerance policy against vehicles, factories, and individuals responsible for contributing to smog through stubble burning.Reviewing traffic management and licensing systems, Dr. Usman stressed the need to reduce road accidents and accelerate campaigns against unlicensed drivers and overloading.He reaffirmed that, under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, vigorous efforts are underway to make Punjab a safe and peaceful province. The IGP added that all districts are being gradually transitioned to the Safe Cities system, ensuring improved surveillance and rapid response capabilities.Dr. Usman further noted that mobile police stations and licensing units have made justice and services accessible to citizens, especially women in remote areas.
The meeting was attended by Additional IG Investigation Shehzada Sultan, Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Nekokara, DIG Headquarters, RPO Sheikhupura, DIG Investigation Lahore, SSP Investigation Lahore, and senior officers from the Punjab Police while CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir, DIG Operations Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs also participated via video link.
