LAHORE: Enforcement teams of Punjab Food Authority inspected 3,209 breakfast points across the province under Chief Minister Punjab’s Adulteration Free Punjab Mission, resulting in the sealing of two outlets, registration of one FIR and imposition of fines exceeding Rs13.6 million on food business operators.PFA Director General said that Food safety teams also discarded over 200 litres of substandard oil and expired or prohibited food items during the operation. The DG said
that 2,183 breakfast points were served improvement notices for minor violations, while those failing to comply despite repeated warnings were heavily fined.He said that teams found poor storage conditions, dirty freezers, rusty utensils, pest infestations, expired meat and rotten vegetables stored in fungus-infested freezers.poses serious health risks to consumers.The PFA DG stated that all food points were being continuously inspected to eliminate elements harmful to public health. He said that under the directives of CM Punjab, all stages from food preparation to distribution were being aligned with international standards.He further said that PFA was taking consistent measures to eradicate the adulteration and forgery mafia from Punjab.
