Inflation raised by 0.26 pc in a week: PBS

ISLAMABAD: The inflationary trend, which has been rising relentlessly for four months, slightly abated in the week ending on November 17 as the year-on-year (YoY) inflation fell from 29.24 percent to 28.67 percent.
However, according to data shared by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed on Friday, week-on-week (WoW) inflation showed a slight increase, recording 0.26% compared to 0.74 percent last week, 0.53 percent 15 days ago and a record 4.13% at the ending week on Oct 27.
According to the Department of Statistics, out of 51 items, 23 saw price increases last week, 13 had price decreases, and 15 had stable prices. As per week-on-week terms, the price of salt increased by 7.61%, Lipton tea was 5.90%, and the price of chicken was 4.89%.
Likewise, the price of onion increased by 4.61%, the price of eggs was 3.66% and the price of tomato was 2.41%. The price of red chili powder increased by 1.30%, firewood by 6.32%, and price of energy saver bulbs by 1.32%.
This week, the price of potatoes decreased by 6 percent while Dal Masoor was 1.56 %, Dal Chana was 1.46%, Dal Mash was 0.68 and Dal Moong was 0.62 percent cheaper.
This week, the price of a kilo packet of vegetable ghee has decreased by 1.08%, and the price of a five-liter pack of oil has decreased by 0.38%.
