ISLAMABAD: G-7 residents and employees of various private and government organisations, offices of which are located in this sector have been demanding the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to provide a link between Khayaban-i-Suhrwardi and Srinagar Highway.
Earlier, there was a link between these two roads and travellers of Khayaban-i-Suhrwardi also had a direct link with 7th Avenue. However, after construction of the 7th Avenue Interchange, this link does not exist anymore, causing problems for people.
Now, while coming from the Zero Point side, motorists will have to cross through the under pass to reach Aabpara. They have no link to enter Srinagar Highway and 7th Avenue. However, when contacted, CDA’s engineering wing officers told Dawn that this matter is already in the notice of the authority and a few days ago, the engineering wing has been directed to provide a direct link between Khayaban-i-Iqbal and Srinagar Highway. “We are cognisant of this issue and soon a link will be provided. Then motorists will have a choice to enter Srinagar Highway through a link from Suhrwardi road. Once entered on Sirnagar Highway, motorists from the interchange will be able to enter 7th Avenue as well,” said an engineer of the CDA.
On the other hand, the 7th Avenue Interchange has been completed and all its loops including the underpass have been opened for traffic. In July last year, then prime minister Imran Khan had performed the groundbreaking of the project worth Rs1.7 billion.
