ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet on Thursday approved a release of funds of Rs15 billion for the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct the next general elections in the country.
The federal cabinet made some big decisions in its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday.
In the cabinet meeting, it is decided to call a “Donors’ Conference” for the rehabilitation of the flood victims in the country. The federal cabinet approved a supplementary grant of Rs2 billion for the Ministry of Information to launch a media campaign.
It was also approved to restore the suspended oil and gas exploration licenses and endorsed the decision of uniform tariff for the K-Electric in the meeting.
The cabinet also approved a supplementary grant of Rs8 billion for the development schemes of the parliamentarians while the decisions of the Cabinet Committee on Legislation of 1st December have also been endorsed in the meeting.
To deal with the wheat crisis, the cabinet has given permission to import 4.5 million tons of wheat from Russia that will be imported at the rate of US$372 per ton.
