DUBAI: Tussauds Dubai proudly revealed the wax figure of the late Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the first female leader of any Islamic state in modern history. The official unveiling took place at an exclusive event attended by prominent dignitaries, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
The ceremony was attended by Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, the Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE, along with senior officials from the Embassy & Consulate General of Pakistan and distinguished community members.
In his speech, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted the significance of the wax figure, which serves as a befitting tribute to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s enduring legacy. He emphasized that her historic achievement as the first female Prime Minister from the Muslim World continues to inspire the younger generation, especially women, across the globe. He also praised her relentless advocacy for peace, stability, and cooperation among nations on the international stage.
The wax figure of Benazir Bhutto was crafted to replicate her appearance when she was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1989. Sculpted using traditional techniques, the figure captures the essence of her leadership and dedication to public service. It will now take its place in the first zone of Madame Tussauds Dubai, alongside wax figures of other esteemed world leaders and royals.
Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, a trailblazing Pakistani politician and stateswoman, served as the 11th and 13th Prime Minister of Pakistan, from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1996, respectively. She was the daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who previously held the position of Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1971 to 1977.
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi expressed his appreciation for Madame Tussauds’ work in celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of influential individuals who have inspired generations worldwide. He welcomed the opportunity for Pakistani citizens residing in the UAE to visit the likeness of Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and learn about her remarkable achievements.
