Islamabad (Staff Reporter) Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, during his official visit to the United States, participated in the 25th International Sea Power Symposium held at the US Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island. The symposium included discussions on common maritime challenges and issues related to the promotion of international maritime security cooperation. A large number of chiefs of different naval forces and their delegations from around the world participated in the symposium. During the symposium, Amir al-Bahr met with senior officials of various naval forces, including the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Netherlands and Saudi Arabian Naval Forces. Heads of the Navy, US Navy Secretary and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti held bilateral meetings to discuss issues of mutual interest. During the meeting, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi briefed the participants on Pakistan’s maritime approach. informed about and highlighted the role of Pakistan Navy in regional maritime security. Amir Al Bahr highlighted the security challenges facing the Indian Ocean and mentioned the initiative of Pakistan Navy’s Regional Maritime Security Patrol to fulfill the international obligations of ensuring a safe maritime environment in the region. International Sea Power The aim of the symposium is to provide a forum for global maritime leaders to discuss common maritime challenges and opportunities to enhance cooperation in maritime security at the international level. Discussions at the symposium included countering piracy, disaster relief, maritime search and rescue, including coordinating submarine rescue, planning joint military operations, arms, drug and human trafficking. Efforts to increase cooperation to prevent maritime pollution and prevent joint actions will be strengthened. The participation of the Chief of the Pakistan Navy in the 25th International Sea Power Symposium reflects Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and the role of the Pakistan Navy in regional maritime security through mutual cooperation. Along with the activities of the symposium, the Chief of the The Naval Staff also held meetings with Commander Pacific Fleet, Commander US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and Commander US Coast Guard to discuss issues related to maritime security.
