Islamabad (Staff Reporter) Gas Theft Crack Dawn: 87 more gas connections were disconnected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, 158 under-billing cases were processed and fines of more than 0.5 lakh were imposed under Sui Northern in different areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. During the ongoing crackdown against gas theft in the areas, 87 more gas connections were disconnected, 158 under-billing cases were processed. Fines of more than 05 lakhs have been imposed on the people involved in gas theft. Sui Northern Gas disconnected 03 domestic connections for illegal use of gas and 04 connections for using compressors in Lahore. In Bahawalpur, regional team took action and disconnected 05 connections due to use of compressor, 04 due to illegal use of gas while 26 under-billing cases were processed. In Multan, the regional team disconnected 09 gas connections for illegal use and 07 connections for using compressors, imposed fines of Rs. 20,000 for gas theft and Rs. 17,000 for under-billing. Sui Northern Gas disconnected 14 connections in Peshawar for meter tampering, direct use of gas, illegal connection. Fines of 01 lakh 80 thousand were imposed on the people involved in gas theft. In Rawalpindi, the regional team took action and disconnected 02 connections due to the use of compressors and 03 connections due to illegal use of gas. In Mardan, 50 under-billing cases were processed while 02 connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas. The regional team also imposed a fine of three lakh rupees on the gas thieves. In Gujranwala, the regional team took action and disconnected 06 meters for illegal use and 07 meters for using compressors. 03 connections were disconnected during operations in Gujarat on illegal use of gas. 01 connection was disconnected due to illegal use of gas in federal capital Islamabad. 05 gas connections were disconnected due to illegal use of gas in Sahiwal. In Faisalabad, the regional team disconnected 10 meters for tampering with meters, 02 meters for using compressors and processed 82 under-billing cases during the crackdown.
