JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has voiced apprehension regarding the recent judgment by the Indian Supreme Court, upholding the Indian government’s unilateral actions on 5th August 2019, which revoked the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir territory.
Referring to previous decisions and resolutions from the Islamic Summit and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, the General Secretariat reiterates its call for the reversal of all illegal measures since 5 August 2019, aimed at altering the internationally-recognized disputed status of the region.
Affirming solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their pursuit of the right to self-determination, the General Secretariat urges the international community to intensify efforts for a resolution in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
