ISLAMABAD: In a televised address on Thursday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar announced a complete ban on all New Year celebrations in Pakistan, citing the grave situation in Palestine. Expressing solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians, he urged the public to observe simplicity as the nation mourns the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the West Bank.
Prime Minister Kakar highlighted the alarming toll, revealing that more than 21,000 innocent Palestinians, including approximately 9,000 children, had fallen victim to the Israeli forces since October 7, 2023. He emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people on the global stage.
Furthermore, PM Kakar disclosed that Pakistan had dispatched two relief consignments for the Palestinians, with a third on its way. The government is actively coordinating with Egypt and Jordan to ensure timely relief and medical assistance for the affected in Gaza. The prime minister concluded his message with a prayer for a New Year marked by peace, prosperity, and harmony, not only for Pakistan but for the entire world.
