ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has confirmed the receipt of a formal extradition request from India for Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. India characterizes the money laundering case involving Saeed as a “so-called” incident, signaling skepticism about the allegations. The absence of a bilateral extradition treaty between India and Pakistan presents potential legal challenges, prompting the exploration of alternative legal avenues or diplomatic negotiations. This development strains diplomatic relations between the two nations, underscoring the necessity for careful consideration and potential diplomatic dialogue to navigate this sensitive issue. The unfolding events are anticipated to involve intricate legal and diplomatic deliberations, highlighting the complexities of addressing cross-border legal matters in the absence of an established extradition framework.
