ISLAMABAD: In a significant initiative organized by the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC), local government officers from various departments participated in a training program focused on public service ethics. The event, held under the leadership of Mahmood Masood Tamna, General Manager (ID) PMDFC, aimed to enhance the capacity of officers in delivering municipal services effectively.
Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Secretary LG&CDD, highlighted the crucial role of PMDFC training in improving municipal service delivery, urging staff to elevate their knowledge and skills for increased efficiency.
Justice (Rtd) Ali Akbar, emphasized the universal importance of moral values in societal development and pointed out the need for stronger laws protecting whistleblowers in government institutions.
Parvez Iqbal, Chairman BOD-PMDFC, underscored PMDFC’s mission to provide exemplary municipal services, emphasizing the virtue of serving with humility.
Syed Zahid Aziz, MD-PMDFC, stressed the importance of ethical conduct and compassion in local government officers’ approach to problem-solving.
As part of future capacity-building efforts, training modules on crucial topics, such as Minority Marriage Registration, Workers Safety, Environment, Public-Private Partnership, Right to Information Act, and enhancing public service, are being prepared. These modules will benefit 600 officers from local governments across the province and will remain accessible for ongoing training within the Local Government Department.
A consolidation of all local government-related laws is underway to provide easy access to legal guidance for officers. The conclusion of the training featured the presentation of a special commemorative shield to key figures, including the Secretary, Special Secretary LG&CDD trainer, and Dr. Ali Sajid. Certificates were also distributed among the participants, acknowledging their active participation in the workshop.
The training witnessed the active involvement of key individuals, including Asia Gul, Special Secretary of Local Government, Sanam Irshad, Adviser of Local Government (GIZ), Sardar Naseer Ahmed, DG (I&M) of the Local Government Department, Ahmar Sohail, DS Establishment, Mumtaz Hussain, DG of Aab-e-Pak Authority, Rizwana Anjum (SPO ESM), Zohaib Butt (SPO-Procurement), and Sohaib Rafiq (DM, ID).
This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering ethical conduct, competence, and efficiency among local government officers for the betterment of municipal services in Lahore.
