ISLAMABAD: In a bid to enhance the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards across the federal capital, the Sanitation Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated a targeted cleanliness drive, with its primary focus on local markets.
The campaign kicked off at Abpara Market, marking the commencement of a citywide effort to elevate sanitation conditions in public spaces. Various dedicated teams have been strategically formed to spearhead the initiative, concentrating their efforts on the thorough cleaning of roads and footpaths in the initial phase.

Mashooq Ali Sheikh, Director of Sanitation, shed light on the significance of this specialized cleanliness drive, emphasizing its extension to markets throughout the city. He specifically highlighted the Abpara Market as a model for replication, showcasing the meticulous approach that will be adopted in subsequent areas.

Mr. Mashooq Ali Sheikh articulated the hope that the public will actively engage in this cleanliness initiative, underscoring the importance of community involvement in maintaining the cleanliness of local markets. He stressed the need for collective responsibility in ensuring a hygienic environment for all residents.

Furthermore, the comprehensive cleanliness campaign extends beyond public spaces, as the CDA aims to involve the business community in fostering a cleaner environment. Mr. Sheikh outlined plans to engage traders and merchants, encouraging their collaboration with the board to ensure sustained cleanliness practices.

As the city anticipates a positive impact from this concerted effort, the success of the market cleanliness campaign will not only rely on the effectiveness of the sanitation teams but also on the active participation and support from the local community and business stakeholders.

The CDA’s commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier urban environment is evident in this initiative, and stakeholders are optimistic about the positive transformation it will bring to the city’s markets. As the campaign progresses, the community awaits the results of this collective effort toward a more hygienic and aesthetically pleasing urban landscape.
