ISLAMABAD: In response to recent confusion, the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, in conjunction with the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, issued a clarification regarding a directive allegedly mandating dance competitions in educational institutions in Islamabad.
The clarification, issued by Ms. Riffat Jabeen, Director (Academics) of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) in Islamabad, addressed the misunderstanding surrounding the directive dated March 29th, 2024. Contrary to initial reports, the directive was not originated or organized by the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training or the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO.
UNESCO’s involvement in educational initiatives, including the “Dance for Education” program, was highlighted in the clarification. The program, aimed at promoting cultural exchange and educational opportunities globally, aligns with UNESCO’s broader campaign emphasizing the transformative power of education. Furthermore, it was clarified that participation in the dance competitions was not compulsory for educational institutions. The directive was intended solely for informational purposes regarding UNESCO’s international initiatives. In light of any confusion stemming from the directive, it has been formally withdrawn, with apologies for any inconvenience caused.
The clarification underscores the ongoing commitment of the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training to educational development in Pakistan.
With this clarification, the Ministry aims to dispel any misunderstandings regarding the directive on dance competitions, reaffirming the collaborative efforts between national authorities and UNESCO in advancing educational objectives in Pakistan.
