ISLAMABAD: The nine-storey building of Petroleum House faced a crisis as its elevator malfunctioned, leading to significant challenges for disabled and aged employees. Despite two weeks passing since the incident, the elevator remains unrepaired, exacerbating the plight of affected workers. Efforts by the Secretary Petroleum to address the issue have so far proved ineffective, highlighting the urgent need for resolution.
Sources within the Petroleum House revealed that the malfunctioning elevator has become a pressing concern, particularly for employees with disabilities who heavily rely on it for mobility within the building. Despite efforts to rectify the situation, including intervention by the Secretary Petroleum, the elevator remains out of service, significantly disrupting daily operations and posing safety risks.
Furthermore, it was reported that a senior officer of the GHPL experienced a medical emergency couple of days back due to the malfunctioning elevator. The officer, reportedly collapsed unconscious while attempting to climb the stairs, resulting in a dangerous drop in blood sugar levels. This incident underscores the severity of the situation and highlights the urgent need for prompt action to restore the elevator’s functionality. The prolonged downtime of the elevator at Petroleum House not only impacts the efficiency of operations but also poses serious challenges to the safety and well-being of employees, particularly those with disabilities. With concerns growing over the potential for further accidents or health emergencies, stakeholders are urged to expedite repair efforts and ensure the swift restoration of elevator services to mitigate the ongoing hardships faced by affected individuals
