Under the Safe Punjab Vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police have intensified the crackdown to arrest the dangerous criminals involved in the serious crimes. In the continuation of which, in the first half of this year, more than 118,000 dangerous criminals, such as proclaimed offenders, court absconders and target offenders involved in serious crimes have been arrested across the province including Lahore.According to spokesman of Punjab Police, in January to June this year, more than 65,000 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes were arrested, including 9,515 of A category and 55,652 of B category. In the ongoing crackdown against court absconders, more than 36 thousand absconders were arrested, including 2623 of A category and 33682 of B category. During the operations of the police teams, 17725 target offenders (habitual criminals) were also arrested, including 7194 target offenders of A category and 10531 target offenders of B category. Similarly 50 proclaimed offenders wanted in serious crimes were arrested and extradited from foreign countries and transferred to Pakistan.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the police teams for their good performance and directed them to perform their duties more diligently. IG Punjab directed that the cases should be completed quickly with effective investigation and punishment should be given to the culprits, while the RPOs, DPOs should personally supervise crackdown and targeted operations against dangerous criminals.
