ATTOCK: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa and Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak on Monday participated in the Muharram 8 procession in Attock to oversee security arrangements for processions and Majalis during the holy month of Muharram by the district administration. During the visit, the officers held meetings with the organizers of the processions and discussed security arrangements with them and taken their feedback to elaborate the foolproof arrangements. Deputy commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Waqas Aslam Marth, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Aneel Saeed, assistant commissioner city Shagufta Jabeen and representatives of police, revenue and other law enforcement agencies were also present on this occasion.The RPO and Commissioner reviewed point-wise security arrangements made on the route of the procession and gave instructions to the authorities concerned. Babar Sarfraz Alpa and Engineer Aamir Khattak also interacted with the ulema as well as organizers of the processions and majalis and get feedback from them about the arrangements made by police and local administration to facilitate the mourners.The Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza informed the RPO and commissioner about the security and administrative measures taken so far across the division in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram and said that maintaining law and order was the first priority of the district administration Attock. Mr Raza said that the district administration finalized a fool proof security plan to maintain law and order during Ashura processions under which over 3 thousand policemen are deployed to ensure security while troops would be on standby to cope any untoward incident. He said that additional security forces were being deployed at sensitive points, while meetings with members of peace committees were also being organised regularly. “The administration was also in close liaison with the management of Muharram processions and majalis and they were satisfied with the measures”, he added. RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz and Commissioner Aamir Khattak expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the district administration for safety and facilitation of mourners.Meanwhile, the central procession of Alam and Zuljanah on the 8th of Muharram commenced on time from Imambargah Panjtani and concluded at Imambargah Hussainia Attock Cantonment, passing through its designated routes. Hundreds of mourners of Hussain participated in the procession. In Imambargah Panjtani, Maulana Nazim Hussain Jafri from Mashhad, Iran, delivered a speech on the topic of “The Authorities of the Family of Muhammad.” During his speech at Imambargah Panjtani, he stated that the tragedy of Karbala is a victory of truth and the unparalleled sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala will continue to serve as a beacon of guidance for misguided humanity until the Day of Judgment. He emphasized that standing firm against falsehood is the lesson of Hussainiyat and that Imam Hussain watered the garden of Islam with his blood. Later, the participants of the procession offered the Zuhr prayers, organized by Anjuman Shahzada Ali Akbar and led by Syed Safdar Zaidi.
