ATTOCK : The district administration Attock on Sunday launched crackdown against the shopkeepers indulged in illegal practice of selling poultry items at exorbitant rates and send six of them behind the bars for violation of official rate list.Briefing the newsmen about the crackdown launched against the illegal profiteering mafia, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Attock Anil Saeed has said on the directives of Member Provincial Assembly Chairperson Task Force on Price Control Salima Butt, the district administration launched crackdown on the shopkeepers and poultry dealers indulged in illegal practices of violating official price list as well as indulged in illegal profiteering. Responding a question, he said that as many as 37 price control magistrates carried out more than 350 surprise visits to various markets in all six tehsils of the district and imposed fine over Rs 0.1 million for violating official price list. He added that as many as six shopkeepers were sent behind bars for illegal profiteering. He said that the operation started in the instructions of the Punjab government will continue till the principle of the desired goals. He said that the Punjab government and the district administration are carefully monitoring the operation to bring the chicken prices under control.
