Lahore:Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) plays a key role in combating crime on highways, preventing accidents, and ensuring the service and protection of citizens while enforcing laws. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that PHP teams are working tirelessly across the province to protect the lives and property of the citizens and to enforce traffic laws. Alongside crime prevention, strict legal actions are being taken against traffic violations, and awareness campaigns on road safety and traffic laws are ongoing. According to the details, the Punjab Highway Patrol has released its performance report for September 2024.Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that the PHP checked 2.8 million citizens on highways through the e-Police Post app. During these checks, 512 proclaimed offenders and fugitives were arrested. A total of 1.3 million vehicles were checked across Punjab, resulting in the recovery of 212 stolen vehicles and motorcycles. Legal action was taken against over 29,000 overloaded vehicles for axle load violations, and 1,172 vehicles were fined for the illegal use of gas cylinders. For the convenience of citizens, over 18,000 driving licenses were issued, and 64 missing children were reunited with their parents. The removal of 714 temporary and permanent encroachments helped improve traffic flow. Additionally, 9,712 passengers received various types of assistance and guidance, while 13,023 citizens were provided with different policing services at police service centers. One hundred cases were registered for the use of illegal weapons, and from drug dealers, 1,591 liters of alcohol, 5,480 grams of charas, and 10,050 grams of ice were seized. Congratulating the PHP for their excellent performance, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the need for more dedicated efforts in ensuring smooth traffic flow and the service and protection of citizens.
